Life isn't the pits even tho someone ate all the cherries

So after 30 years of marriage I guess that that qualifies me to be able to talk about living arangements for a peaceful marriage. Notice I didn'[t say safe or healthy marriage. For an inside look and this 30 year old marriage we need to visit the couples bedroom, complete with the walk-in-closet and master bath with all it's furnishings.

The walk-in carpeted closet also is a changing room and a storage room and a extra "bedroom". In the winter my husband will often go there to sleep as it is the only room in the house that is sound proof and warm. Summer it is still used as a place to take a pre-nap; resting up for a real nap or a good night's sleep. (If you sleep in stages you will understand.)

Entering the bathroom includes crossing thru the bedroom and in front of the bathroom. It is a good idea to check the vacancy of the closet if one is about to enter the bathroom. The other children have used it as an alternative place to sleep and a private, quiet place for phone calls. The girls use it as a place to store those dresses and things that are too nice to garage but that you only use once in a lifetime. (You know the items that if you get rid of them you will have use for them twice in a lifetime.) Blocking the door to the closet is the bathroom scale. My spouse will not allow it to be placed anywhere else in the bathroom. Also blocking the door is the dirty clothes hamper. To enter freely to my closet after a bath I need to take a giant leap, much like a hurdler jumper, leaping over the obstacles that line the door. Once in the closet, depending who was last there, I can find a empty sleeping bag, my clothes rumpled on the floor or someone's shoes. My hubby in his haste to make himself comfy often grabs the closes items for his closet stay.

Other items which were stored in the closet I have banned. I removed them and placed them in the owners' rooms....because I really needed to get dressed daily and not roam naked in search of my clothes. Time is of a essence when getting dress and I do not want to risk catching cold. I have "secured the border" of my closet and currently I am not taking any more immigrant articles.

Bath is where the room gets it name from as toliets used to be in the outhouses. I wonder if that still wouldn't be a better practice; separate rooms for each. Two people who have been married for 30 years should be able to share a bathroom. WRONG. Some individuals are married but still want their solitude, so forget that sharing thought.

Our bathroom has two sinks. Each situated to one of the sides of the window. The window, if my spouse has been in the room recently is always opened! If it is 32 degrees outside it is open....100, opened. I am the window shutter. I hate drafts and love the privacy one can experience if the closet is empty and the window closed.

When I close a window I also close the curtain. It is a dangerous task that I perform daily. In the window curtain itself are numerous needles and pins, stuck their because they need to be handy to take out slivers. No other place in the house can host these sewing accessories. In the window sill is a dish for pennies and this also may not be removed. It is for pennies.

It is easy to see who claims which sink. My husband has healing plants and barks around his and a picture of his boyhood home in rural Mexico. Under his sink are his razor and toothbrush and the house scissors. (They have to be stored here because.) Under the window is my husband's Bible. It is always open and it also stores other things considered most valuable. It may not be closed or shelved or read elsewhere. Sometimes I use another restroom if I know he is studying so as not to interrupt. My sink has all the stuff that was left in the shower and things that need to washed by hand it it. The counter has whatever I need to see and do the next am.

Around our toliet we cannot have a mat. You know those cute things that match the bath mat? We can't have one because it will get dirty. (I have tried believe me but it always gets kicked away from that area. I believe we use one in the kitchen now.) We cannot keep a bath math either. Same reason....it will get wet. I won that battle....I showed my spouse how to dry your feet as you exit the tub! Still I pick up towels from that area.

The tub is the greatest martial compromise that you can imagine......We could not have a hanger thingy around our shower nozzel because it might break. I finally invested in a net that hangs from the grab bar.
